The platform behind the improvement loop

Build. Observe.Improve. Reuse.

The value is in how the tools work together: program the behavior, connect the system, inspect the evidence, carry what you learn into the next version. Every number on this page was read from ControlForge v1.0.1566 on 2026-09-05.

Build & connect

One environment, many kinds of automation.

Controls engineering and software integration share one runtime and one language. Use the parts your application needs.

Control execution

  • IEC 61131-3 Structured Text: programs, functions, function blocks
  • 12 standard blocks: TON, TOF, TP, RTO, CTU, CTD, CTUD, R_TRIG, F_TRIG, SR, RS, SEMA
  • Multi-task scheduling with priorities and watchdogs
  • Deterministic scan; the same inputs give the same outputs
  • Compiled compute tier: roughly 85–103× on heavy floating-point kernels (white paper, §4)

Engineering environment

  • Browser IDE with project tree and Structured Text editor
  • Statement-level debugger: breakpoints, call stacks, stepping
  • Online mode: live variables streamed over WebSocket
  • Built-in HMI and Node-RED dashboards
  • Validate, deploy, start, stop, reload from the IDE or the API

Software integration

  • HTTP, WebSockets, webhooks, SMTP, UDP, NATS, ZMQ
  • JSON, CSV, INI, regex, compression, crypto, checksums
  • Files, databases, key/value stores
  • Shell and process execution
  • REST API for everything the IDE does

Observe & investigate

Evidence belongs beside the logic.

Improvement starts with seeing what the system actually did. The runtime keeps the record itself.

Live visibility

Variables, task timing, faults, and runtime diagnostics while the application runs. Watch lists and a deterministic project hash so you know what is loaded.

History & events

A built-in, disk-backed historian for process data. Alarms with acknowledgement and history. An event spine every subsystem publishes to.

Simulation & recording

A physics-backed digital twin driven by the same Structured Text. Video capture and vision functions callable from control code. Time Machine records the session.

Improve & reuse

AI that works with your engineering context.

An AI agent gets the same surface the IDE uses, exposed over MCP: the real function list, program validation, variables, history, alarms, and diagnostics. Claude, OpenAI, and Ollama are wired into the IDE for drafting Structured Text.

Human direction, mechanically.

  • The agent introspects the runtime's actual capabilities before it proposes code.
  • Proposed logic is validated by the runtime before it runs.
  • Every write and every action lands in the historian and the event spine.
  • Deploying to a running system is a separate, explicit step that you take.

Connections across domains

From industrial networks to interactive devices.

15 protocol drivers in the runtime's own capability list, plus function families for the things a driver is too heavy for.

Industrial & building

Modbus RTU, Siemens S7, CANopen / DS402, M-Bus, KNX, GPIO, Serial.

Devices & boards

Arduino, RP2040, Teensy, Parallax P2, Phidget, GPS / NMEA, Barcode / ZPL, G-code.

Creative & interactive

DMX / Art-Net / sACN, MIDI, OSC, Audio & synth, Video & vision.

The engineering guides carry the per-driver setup and limits.

Deployment & coordination

One statically linked, cgo-free Go binary. Linux amd64 and arm64, macOS, Windows, Raspberry Pi and other ARM boards. Boss/Minion clustering, failover, and store-and-forward buffering for the installations that need them.
